YES!

I know this is not new news to many of you, but it’s still one of the most exciting things to happen in my life. That and it still doesn’t always seem real, but I know it is . . .

Picture 001

I said yes!

That’s right, on January 1 at approx 1230 am Mike asked me to be his wife, and I quite happily accepted 🙂

We’ve set a date, and chosen a venue. I’ve bought a dress and we’ve decided on colors. Mike has been checking out tuxedos and we’ve been planning up a storm. We have so much left to finalize, and so many things still to tackle but we’ve made the biggest decision of all –  we have decided to spend the rest of our lives together.

You know what? I can’t wait 🙂

**I will not be posting detailing about the wedding until AFTER it has happened. We want the night to be magical, special and a bit of a surprise to all of our guests. I hope you understand and I will share all of our joy once the day has passed.**

New Apart . . . wait, HOUSE!

**I wrote this post back in October and forgot to publish it! Well, now you can finally see the house!**

Okay, so maybe it isn’t exactly new at this point since I moved in back in June, but I haven’t done the post yet . . . let’s use our imaginations and pretend that today is July 15th and we’ve just finished unpacking all of my stuff and getting our house set up. Ready to go on the tour with me? We’ll start upstairs;

The dinning room, love the built in for wine glasses and uncommonly used items.

From the dinning room you can look straight down to the entrance (we are a split level home).

This is our living room. Huge windows means lots of light, which means I’m super happy 🙂

Our surprisingly spacious spare room. Yes, we are willing to welcome visitors 🙂 There is a bathroom beside it, but didn’t feel we needed photos of it!

The kitchen. I seem to spend a fair amount of time in here – I do love to cook and bake after all!

Now onto the basement – I chose not to photograph the bathroom and laundry room, so we only get to visit two places;

The master bedroom. Again, nice large windows, lots of space and a pretty good sized closet.

My crafting/sewing room/library. I LOVE this room. I can go down here, get creative, make something, pick a book/magazine to read.

A Favorite Canadian Treat

As everyone knows there is nothing quite like the joy of a box of Girl Guide cookies.  Twice a year the Girl Guides of Canada sells cookies – and right now we’re in the Chocolate Mint cookie season.

As someone who has been very involved in Guiding since childhood, for those of you who don’t know I started as a brownie when I was six years old, selling these cookies is one of the most recognizable signs of spring to me, sort of like that first crocus you see in the grass.  Now that I’m a leader I see the benefits of selling these cookies far more so than I ever did as a girl.  As a leader I see how this money goes to providing programing and opportunities to the girls – it helps us get kids who can’t afford to be there in Guiding, it lets us take them on several camps a year, and it lets us help them complete badges and challenges.

Right now I am selling cookies at $5 a box.  Please support Girls all over Canada by buying a box of cookies.  I know that not all of you can buy from me, in that case I strongly encourage you to buy at least one box from a local unit.  Trust me, not only will you enjoy the cookies, you’ll be supporting young girls across the country.  Thanks for your support, and enjoy the treat 🙂

Is this my return to Blogging?

Again, I disappear for more than a week – and yet people continue to read. I really need to start treating my readers a little bit better (hi Mom!). In my defense, I did just spend the last three weeks in Europe and the previous few weeks getting ready for Europe. Do you all still love me? Or did that make you hate me a little? I’m hoping for the former, but will forgive you for the latter.

A quick update perhaps? I do have an April book and May book to write-up (I actually made it through three books in May), will be starting my Europe posts shortly (still need to get all the photos on my computer and then start the large task of going through them all) and have set myself a challenge for the month of June. What is this challenge you ask? Well, let me tell you . . . for the next 21 days (possibly all 30) I am going to get off my lazy butt and go for a run. I really need to push myself this way, since I’m not making any progress on my goal of being able to run 10 km by the end of 2012. As a way to hold myself accountable, I’m telling you and am planning on regularly posting my times and distances. Might not make it on here every day for updates, but will try to do them at least a few times a week.

Alright, the next post will be either my April book or the first post relating to Europe. Hope you’re all glad to see me back. I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and staying in better touch with you all!

Hello again, and sorry . . . again.

Again I’ve been AWOL . . . sorry, but I think you all might have to get used it. I’m a busy girl, I like to be doing things, I’m a Guide Leader and I work two jobs. There’s not a whole lot of time left for things like Blogging! For example, this is my current week starting with Monday.

Monday – work 7-530, go to gym (not an overly exciting day, I’ll admit)

Tuesday – First Aid training followed by Guides (hosting two units to bring us up to 45 girls!)

Wednesday – work and go to the PAUL BRANDT CONCERT!!!! (more on that later)

Thursday – work, go rock climbing with the Halifax Adventures group

Friday – take the car in for check up, pick up Church key for Guides (it was stuck in the door), get a massage, go to the gym and work at Stokes, go to some Persian party with my friend

Saturday – take little miss Mayfly out 🙂

Sunday – French Brunch and hopefully acquire some groceries again.

Yea, so I hope you can see why I’m not around much. I’m pretty busy these days . . . some of it is work, some of it is play, but it’s all the time 🙂

I’m also in the middle of planning the menu for our next Guide camp which just happens to be next weekend. This also means I’m digging through all of the supplies for things we might need while still getting things organized for the meeting next week. Plus I need to find 1-2 hours straight this weekend to sit down and figure that all out.

I’m not too sure when I’m going to get a chance to finish February’s book, but I’m still working on it! I’m not giving up yet . . . there will be a book a month and I will be able to run 10 km in one go by the end of 2012. Somehow.

I’ll try to be around a little more often, though I’m not making any promises!
