I like to think I’m not one to preach any of my beliefs to other people, and I’ve never used my blog politically or even religiously. That said, today Canada officially said Good Bye to an amazing man, a strong leader and someone who truly wanted to change his country, OUR country, for better. So, this is still not a political post, but I do feel it’s important to note his passing.
While Jack, and I do hope that were he still around, he would be glad to hear so many people speaking of him with such familiarity, was the leader of the NDP party, I have noticed that regardless of most people’s political beliefs they liked Jack. The out pouring of grief that has been happening in this country since Jack’s passing on the 22nd has been overwhelming. It seems that right now so many citizens of Canada have a stronger desire to make our country into something even more amazing than it currently is. I’m not going to lie, I really hope people continue to feel this way, that people take up the fight, regardless of their political beliefs. I hope that we can all memorialize this fine leader by creating a country that everyone who lives here, who is born here, visits here, or wishes to come to can be proud of. Jack said it best, so I’ll leave us with his words…
My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.
